Purple Star Liaison Training

The Purple Star Liaison is the school staff who serves as the point of contact and support for military-connected youth and families.  The Purple Star Liaison may be a teacher, a Family Resource Youth Center Coordinator, a school resource officer, a guidance counselor or other school staff.  Schools may choose to have more than one liaison or create a committee that supports the liaison.  Please note, the liaison must be present in the school building during school hours.

The liaison is required to complete an online self-paced training called “Military Youth in Kentucky”.  The purpose of the training is to help raise awareness to the unique challenges faced by military-connected youth. The one hour training includes six modules and a pre/post quiz and survey.  Participants receive one RILA credit certificate from the Kentucky Department of Education after completing the training.  Liaisons must complete a brief bi-annual questionnaire after receiving the Purple Star Award to provide feedback and suggestions to the advisory board to help make improvements to the program where needed.
