The Purple Star Award requires schools to identify a liaison who serves as the point of contact and support for military-connected youth and families. The Purple Star Liaison may be a teacher, a Family Resource Youth Service Center Coordinator, a guidance counselor, or other school staff. Schools may choose more than one liaison or create a committee that supports the liaison.
Purple Star Liaison requirement:
Be present in the school building during school hours and accessible to students and families.
Understand the military community
Help raise school awareness on the unique challenges faced by military-connected youth.
